Lectures
 

Since its foundation in 1946 the society has put on a series of six autumn/winter lectures each year. The topics covered in these lectures vary from subjects of local historical interest to national issues. See below for details of upcoming lectures.


These lectures are held in various venues around the county. The lectures for the coming winter are given below.



During
Heritage Week at the end of August members of the society give brief talks on various aspects of Co. Carlow life. This year's mini-lectures will be given  on Wednesday 22nd August 2012, commencing at 8 p.m.  Each talk will  last approximately 20 minutes. 

The three mini-lectures will be on the theme of "Carlow Industries".

Dan Carbery will speak on "Governey's Boot Factory and Corcoran's Mineral Waters."

Paul Lyons will talk on "The Irish Sugar Company, Carlow."

Pat O'Neill will discuss "The Blade Factory and the Cold Rolling Mill."
