Ireland: The Birth of a Nation

Public film screening in Carlow College, ‘Ireland: Birth of a Nation’, Feile an Fhomhair, Thursday 8th October 2015 at 7.30pm, charge: €5.00

With the centenary celebrations of the 1916 Easter Rising less than a year away, a film documenting the events larding up to the rebellion is proving hugely popular with schools and the public in general. The film ”Ireland: Birth of a Nation” includes very rare black and white footage of the key events that led to the Easter Rising, the Rebellion itself and the subsequent War of Independence and Civil War.
Produced by Gerard McCarthy and narrated by Irish actor Gary Murphy, the film itself is highly visual, entertaining, educational and brings this important period of Irish history back to life.
