‘An Accomplished Man’ charts the life story of an eminent Carlow man who became an influential figure during the decades before Irish independence.

Born in Leighlinbridge in 1862, Robert Donovan
went on to be a leading Dublin journalist – mainly associated with The Nation and The Freeman’s Journal – but he was also prominent in the educational, cultural and political spheres. A strong advocate for Home Rule, he also lent his support to other causes and, throughout his lifetime, assumed leadership positions in a number of movements and campaigns.

This biography, researched and compiled by CHAS member John O’Donovan, is a limited edition and, as such, will not be available from the usual outlets. Anyone wishing to secure a copy (cost €15) should contact John via email at odonovanjw@gmail.com
