On Wednesday 15th February in Seven Oaks Hotel, Jimmy Walsh, Manager of Leinster Co-operative Marts Carlow, gave a lecture on the historical significance of the livestock fairs, their commercial importance nationally and locally and their eventual replacement by today’s modern cattle marts.
The lecture also dealt with the role of the Dublin cattle market, it’s place in history and the development of the local co-operative mart in Carlow.
