The local Irish history course at Carlow College, St. Patrick’s will examine the local dimensions of Ireland’s past and is designed to provide practical support for local history studies. Using the expertise of Carlow College lecturers and the resources of the college and nearby cultural institutions, this course provides a how-to guide to local history whatever area of Ireland you are interested in. Training will be provided in a lively and accessible manner on how to carry out research in local studies and how to write up the findings.
The weekly two-hour seminar will be presented by an array of academic lecturers and visiting practitioners. Discussion, debate and presentation will allow attendees to formulate a comprehensive local history study idea.
